Studies have evaluated the direct and indirect savings for each dollar spent on Hib immunization in a variety of countries (13):

Israel: 1.5 dollar (1993)
Chile: 1.7 dollar (1993)
Sweden: 1.6 dollar (1994)
Spain: between 2.4 and 5.1 dollars, depending on the means of  immunization (1995)

bullet- South Africa (Cape Town): between 1.3 and 1.4 dollar (1995).
bulletIn the United States, a study published in 1994 on the immunization of individuals 65 years and older showed that private insurance companies saved 117 dollars in medical costs per person. The authors of the study estimated that for each dollar spent on immunization, 30 to 60 dollars were saved in hospitalization costs. In France, one estimate in 1992 concluded that total annual savings (medical costs and reduced work absenteeism) ranged between 169 and 3,530 million francs, depending on the scenario.
